Our early involvement in the planning stages meant we could provide practical, cost-effective construction solutions while ensuring the space was fit-out ready for the retailer’s internal works. The result was a high-quality commercial space delivered with minimal disruption to the surrounding community.

This project came with several logistical and environmental challenges. The site was located on a boundary-to-boundary block, directly adjacent to 12 operating businesses—requiring careful consideration to limit disruption. Situated on busy Launceston streets, the project also had the potential to impact local traffic and pedestrian flow. On top of these logistical constraints, sustainability and environmental protection were key concerns, particularly during wet weather conditions when managing runoff was critical.

To address these challenges, we implemented a series of strategic construction and project management solutions:

• Onsite precast panel construction was used to streamline the build and minimise street-level disruption.
• Tailored management plans were developed and executed to ensure minimal impact on neighbouring businesses throughout the build.
• Reusable shutter systems were deployed for suspended concrete slabs, significantly reducing material waste and supporting sustainability targets.
• Environmental measures, including silt fencing and retention of existing car park kerbing, helped manage runoff and site conditions during wet weather.
• Collaborative project delivery was made possible through close coordination with stakeholders including JAC Group, 6ty°, and Collective Consulting. Open communication and proactive problem-solving ensured design, engineering, and construction elements remained aligned with rebel Sport’s operational needs.

Through disciplined project management and innovative thinking, Tas City Building successfully transformed a conceptual design into a premium retail-ready space—on time, on budget, and with the community in mind.
